The right interface for every role
The challenge
Factory stakeholders have fundamentally different information needs and work contexts. Industrial engineers analyze trends at their desks, floor supervisors respond to issues while walking the production floor, and mechanics need machine-specific diagnostics at the point of repair. A single interface can't serve these diverse requirements effectively.
Why it happens
Most industrial systems prioritize either desktop analysis tools or mobile monitoring, but rarely both with equal capability. Desktop interfaces provide comprehensive data but tie users to their workstations. Mobile apps offer accessibility but sacrifice analytical depth. Stakeholders end up compromising—either missing information they need or being constrained by where they can access it.
Our solution
OpenSeam provides purpose-built interfaces for different contexts. The desktop portal delivers comprehensive analytics, historical trending, multi-line comparisons, and detailed constraint analysis for industrial engineers and plant managers. The mobile PWA gives floor supervisors and mechanics real-time notifications, station-level diagnostics, and immediate status visibility while moving through the facility. Both interfaces access the same live data but present it appropriately for the user's role and context.
The outcome
Nobody compromises on the information they need or struggles with interfaces designed for different work patterns. Industrial engineers can conduct deep analysis without being limited by mobile screen constraints. Floor supervisors receive actionable alerts on their phones without needing to return to an office terminal. Mechanics access machine history directly at the station requiring attention. Each stakeholder gets the data they need in the format that matches how they actually work.
How we deliver
The desktop portal runs in any modern web browser with no software installation required. The mobile PWA installs directly from the web with no app store dependencies and works on both iOS and Android devices. Both interfaces authenticate through the same user system and respect role-based permissions automatically. Stakeholders configure their notification preferences and dashboard views once; the system delivers appropriately across all their devices.
