OpenSeam Privacy Policy
Effective date: January 1, 2026 · Last updated: January 1, 2026
OpenSeam, Inc. ("OpenSeam," "we," "us," or "our") provides a software platform, including mobile applications (the "Apps") and related web services (together, the "Service"), used by businesses and their authorized personnel. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through the Service, how we use and share it, and the choices available to you.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account Information
To access the Service, you sign in through an authentication provider using credentials issued or approved by your organization. We receive and store information necessary to identify your account, such as your name, work email address, organization/employer, and role or permission level within the Service.
1.2 Content You or Your Organization Submit
The Service allows Authorized Users to capture photos and videos using their device camera (for example, to document production status, quality checks, or work activity) and to enter related operational data. This content is submitted by you or on behalf of your Customer organization and is stored and processed as part of the Service.
1.3 Device and Diagnostic Information
We automatically collect limited technical information needed to operate and support the App, such as device type, operating system version, app version, and crash or error logs.
1.4 Notification Data
If you enable notifications, we collect a device push-notification token so we can deliver work-related alerts (for example, task or status updates) through your device's operating system. You control this permission in your device settings at any time.
1.5 Usage / Analytics Data
We use analytics services to understand how the Service is used (for example, screens viewed, features used, and general usage patterns), so we can improve reliability and usability. This data is tied to your account or device identifier for analytics purposes and is not used for advertising.
1.6 Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect precise geolocation, payment card or financial account details, government ID numbers, or health information through the Service, and we do not use advertising identifiers or serve third-party advertising.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including authenticating your access;
- Enable the core functionality your organization uses the Service for (e.g., capturing and storing operational photos/videos, sending relevant notifications);
- Monitor performance, diagnose and fix technical issues, and improve the Service;
- Understand product usage through aggregated or account-level analytics;
- Maintain the security of accounts, devices, and data; and
- Comply with our legal obligations and enforce our agreements.
3. Device Permissions
| Permission | Why we ask |
|---|---|
| Camera | To let you capture photos and videos for work-related documentation within the Service. Access is requested only when you use a camera feature, and captured media is uploaded only as part of your normal use of the Service. |
| Notifications | To deliver work-related alerts and updates. You can disable this at any time in your device settings without losing access to the rest of the Service. |
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for third-party advertising purposes. We share information only as follows:
- Service providers: We use trusted third-party providers to help us run the Service, such as cloud infrastructure/hosting, authentication, analytics, and push-notification delivery. These providers may process data only on our instructions and under confidentiality and data-protection obligations.
- Your organization:Because the Service is provisioned by your employer or organization, your organization's administrators can access account and work-content data associated with their organization.
- Legal and safety reasons: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of OpenSeam, our Customers, or others.
- Business transfers: If OpenSeam is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to confidentiality commitments consistent with this Policy.
5. Data Retention
We retain personal data and work content for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service to your organization, and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Retention periods for Customer operational data may also be governed by the agreement between OpenSeam and your organization. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.
6. Data Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction, including encryption of data in transit, access controls, and monitoring. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you or your organization are located, applicable data protection law — including the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP Act), and similar laws elsewhere — may give you rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or receive a copy of your personal data, and to object to or withdraw consent for certain processing, subject to applicable exceptions.
Because your account is provisioned by your employer or organization, we recommend first contacting your organization administrator for requests related to your work account. You may also contact us directly at privacy@openseam.co, and we will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. We do not sell personal data and do not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so opt-out-of-sale rights are not applicable.
8. International Data Transfers
We and our service providers may process and store information in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms) to protect personal data transferred internationally.
9. Children's Privacy
The Service is intended for use by adult employees and contractors of our business Customers. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 18.
10. Enterprise Customers
If your organization has a separate written agreement with OpenSeam (including any data processing terms) governing the Service, that agreement will govern to the extent it conflicts with this Policy as it relates to Customer data. Enterprise Customers may request a copy of our data processing terms by contacting their account manager, or at privacy@openseam.co.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
